Shea Welsh

Baltimore born, east coast raised, west coast transplant, Shea Welsh , currently resides in Los Angeles California. Shea has been actively performing, recording, writing, producing and teaching music on both coasts for the past decade. He leads his own jazz/rock group, The Shea Welsh Group, which has performed recently at Los Angeles's world famous Baked Potato and The 2001 EMMY Awards.

As a sideman, Shea has recorded and toured the United States with GES Recording Artist Slim Man and N-Coded Music's Bonafide. He has performed at many of the countries premier jazz clubs and festivals including The Catalina Island Jazz Festival, New York City's legendary Birdland, L.A's Catalina Bar and Grille and The Jazz Bakery, and Baltimore's Art Scape and Ethel's Place. Shea also keeps one foot firmly in the rock world with recordings and performances ranging from acoustic rock to heavy metal. He has written arranged are recorded with artisits Angela Taylor, Kristee Lively and Meredith Pegula.

When not performing, there is a good chance you can find Shea in the recording studio. He and his recently formed production company TAN, (The Audio Network) are hard at work writing and producing music for r&b, rap, rock and jazz artists as well as music for film and television. Shea's guitar skills are also highly in demand on the open market, where he has played numerous sessions at the countries finest studios including The Record Plant in Hollywood CA, Manhattan Center Studios in New York City and Omega Studios in Washington D.C. He has also worked with some of the industries finest producers including LeMel Humes, Ron Nevison, and Charles Dockins.

Shea has also distinguished himself as a top notch educator, having written two books for The National Guitar Workshop that are distributed worldwide by The Alfred Publishing Company. The books are entitled Blues Guitar Lessons Volume I &II. No stranger to hard work or the halls of academia, Shea received his Master's degree in jazz and studio guitar from The University of Southern California where he also taught guitar and rock ensemble classes. He also directs the jazz bands at The Crossroads School for Arts And Sciences and the New Roads School in Santa Monica CA. In his spare time he changes his guitar strings.
